Tlie members of the Domestic Workers’ Union hold another meeting last evening (says the Wellington Post), when certain alterations were made in the workers’ claims. For purposes of simplification domestic service was classified as follows:
—Housekeepers, generals, lady helps, maids, laundryma ids, and cooks in private houses'. The meeting passed a resolution deciding to affiliate with tlie Wellington Trades Council and fpi initiated a list cf employers’ names, each of whom will shortly receive a circular containing the demands of the union. One of these will he preference to unionists. It was stated that a number of those who attended tlie meeting intend taking tlieir holidays in Nelson, where they will endeavor to form a union. The recent importation of domestic servants by the Gothic was discussed —not adversely; but it was thought the names of tlieir employers should he obtained so that they could be “cited” to appear when the union formulated its demands. Before anything definite is done a conference between employers and employed will bo held.
