An advertisement appearing in tlieso columns some days ago, over the signature of “Truth,” asking for information on hospital matters, has been freely ascribed to the management of the Times itself, or to someone connected therewith, the idea being to insinuate that hospital matters ivero being stirred up in the inr terests of this paper by those who arc interested by it. We can give this an emphatic denial, and say that the gentleman from whom the advertisement emanated has no connection whatever with the Times , nor has anything boon done in that connection by the paper or its controlling authority in any pthcr interest than that of the public. The gentleman who inserted that advertisement had a perfect right to do so, and his interest in hospital matters Is a closer one than that of the Times, with which there is no collusion. What we have done in the matter we were impelled to do in the interests of pub-
lie safety, which was the only object, and we would not hesitate to do it again under similar circumstances. In fact we are not sure that we shall not have to return to the subject after finding out what the Trustees intend to do in the matter, for we hoar that certain Trustees are endeavouring to maintain the status quo in hospital management, and if that is so we can promise that there is a lively time coming, and such an array of facts will be divulged as will compel the Trustees to see that the right thing is done, but, as we have said before, they must have the chance of doing that and of falsifying rumors in regard to their action. When they have done that we shall applaud them and make them a present of the ci edit attached to whatever reforms may be necessary, for the Trims wants no kudos for having discharged a public duty without fear, favor, or affection.
