Owing to a recurrence of the trouble in the New Hebrides, the Federal Government have asked the admiral to send a warship to the group. Mr Deakin says when he left Sydney some days ago a number of matters were referred to the Government by some of the missionaries, and the Government thought action should be taken. The supposition is the trouble is in connection with the repatriation of Queensland Kanakas. It is understood the vessel referred to by Mr Deakin is the Prometheus, which left on the 4th inst. for the New Hebrides, via Noumea.

The Council struck out of the Licensing Bill the clause declaring it illegal to void agreements in regard to tied houses.

The building trades rejected a proposal for an open conference.
