Berlin, Dec. 18. A reporter attached to the newspaper Local Anzeigor, disguised as a servant in livery, listened to the Kaiser’s conversation on a journey to Potsdam. When discovered he was deposited on a railway truck ten miles from the station.
Adelaide, Dec. 10. The Marine Board found the stranding of tho Scottish Minstrel was due to careless navigation.
Sydney, Dec. 19. Mr Taylor, in a letter to the press, replying to the Director of the Intelligence Department, says the latter admitted the letters in Taylor’s possession from the Agent-General’s Office were very misleading, and it was useless for him to expect to got a farm on the terms quoted in tho letters. The offers he received in Sydney differed materially from those of the AgentGeneral. He charged the Director with a number of mis-statements. Melbourne, Dec. 19. Russell, a Labor Socialist, now heads Tunnecliffe, another Labor Socialist, for third seat in the Senate. Other returns cannot alter the result. Tom Mann has been released after ■ five weeks in gaol. He was warmly welcomed at a great meeting of Labor Socialists.
The Council of the University has approved of a scheme of compulsory military training.
