The wharf laborers’ strike has been settled. It is practically a victory for the men. The new agreement, with a currency of twelve months, has been signed. It upholds the principle of eight hours a day, and maintains a system of unbroken quartors. Day shiffs are allowed, also two “ smokeolis ” of ten minutes each, instead of two of twenty minutes, as previously. On night shifts two of twenty minutes each are allowed. All the other conditions remain unaltered. Work has been resumed.
