Blenheim, last night In the Supreme C urt., beforo the Chief Justice, Charley Chow Sing, of Picton, was charged with an indecent act in the presence of a boy. Ho was convicted and admitted to probation. Two young men, Albert Bezar and Harold Brosnahan, charged with assault and robbery of an old man on a drunken spree, woro found guilty of attempted theft only, and admitted to probation, on condition they are never seen in a hotel or under the influence of liquor. Civil cases are proceeding. The uotion, the Government v. the Blenheim Borough Council, for possession of rooms in the Government buildings, was removed for argument in Wellington in Banco.
DunediD, last night. The Hon Mr McLean is reported to be considerably better to-day. At Mr MciVab’o mooting at Nasoby last night a resolution thanking the Minister for his address, and support ing the principle of the Land Bill, was carried by a small majority against an amendment expressing the opinion that no Land Bill can bo accepted unless it gives the option of the freehold.
A six-roomed house at St. Leonards, owned and occupied by Crosland, was burned down to-day. The insurances are : State office £3OO, Standard £l5O.
