Too quarterly sales of tho Gisborne Wouibroiißca' Association were held yesterday, the usual buyers beiog in a-.teud-uneo.
Masers Williams and Kettle, Ltd , report: —Wo oatalogutd 170 bales of wool, 37 bags of wool, 1757 skins, 276 hides, aud 18 packages of tallow. Biddiug was spirited up to a point for second-class wool, but in most cases for good crossbreds failed to reaoti the local growers’ reserves. In our opinion tho buyers were not offering equivalent to the values realised ns ootrespondiog sales in other centres. Tho passed lots, however, will no daubt be treated for privately, and for tho most p irt growers will probably obtain tho full value the condition of the wool warrants in companion with tho wool offered oatside. Our top value forfl.ece wool was 101 per lb for clean orossbred, while rough lois wero sold fcom 91 to 9J-1. lucks and pieces wero sold at fair values, cunning up so 4£d for look) and 7£i for oicaa orutohings, Skins wero in strong demand, and gcod well saved lots felohed up to 81, badly saved and close shorn made from 51 to 61, Hides were also in good demuni, and wa sold a line of 189 ox feetzsrs at 5Ji per lb. Well saved station lota wero feiohing to 4fi. Tallow was eagerly enquired after, and for our only offering ol station lots we obtained rom 18s to 20s per cwt. f Messrs Common, Shelton and Co , report:—There wero the usual Auckland and local buyers. We offered 40 bales of wool and about 2000 skins, Prices realised: Rough fleece 9.{d, dead Bjd to B:|d, pieces 7d to 7;j-d, crutchings 6*-d, locks 4-:|d to sd, well saved station skins 8d to Sjd, inferior from 6d to 7-|d, salted skins 8s 9d to 9s, salted pelts 2s to 2s 4d.
Messrs Bennett ( ,and Sherratt offered only a small quantity of wool, and about 500 skins aud 60 hides. Prices realised were: Locks 5 [d, and skins reached Bd, hides 4-:, ! d, tallow sold at 2s 6d per cwt. Loan aud Mercantile Agency Co., offered 116 bales wool, also a quantity bagged, and 700 skins and 25 hides. Prices : Crossbred fleece brought from 9.!d to lt'kl, bellies 7d, crutchings 4:{d, locks 7d, bellies and locks 6.[d, skins from 7d to Bd, pelts Is 7d to 2s 2d, hides from old to s|-d. Messrs Dalgoty and Co., report that they had an inferior catalogue, which, however, was disposed of at satisfactory figures. The top price obtained for wool ranged from yd to 9.1-d, locks 4d to od, crutchings od to Gd, skins (good) 7d to Bd, tom and inferior 4;jd to Gd, hides 4d to sd.
