THE PREMIER’S PROMISE.
PRESS ASSOCIATION Wanganni, last night, In the course of an address to volunteers to-day, at the conclusion of the unveiling ceremony, Sir Joseph Ward intimated that he intended making a statement as to the composition of the new Defence Council on his return to Wellington. The Premier said Government intended to place volunteers on a much better footing than at present, and to offer inducements to civilians to become marksmen.
