LUCKY THAMES.

.£IO,OOO OF THE PEOPLE’S MONEY DANGLING. ~; i ; • PRESS ASSOCIATION

Thames, last night. Statements circulated as to indignation at Thames, the result of statements by the Ministor of Mines with reference to the district’s apathy regarding deep level developments, are incorrect. A few disinterested persons disagree with Mr McGowan, but generally it is admitted that the statements arc unfortunately too true. Nothing practical has been done in the matter of deep level developments for the past ten years. Not even a meeting has been called to discuss the scheme. The only practical step was tho voting of a thousand pounds by the Borough Coucil. It is hoped that moro activity will be shown as tho result of the Minister’s remarks, and some schcmo adopted so that the ten thousand Government subsidy may be claimed.
