Only a small quantity cf furniture was saved. There was a stoppage in the water supply, and the brigade were prac.ioally powerless. The fire ia supposed to have originated through ono of the family inadvertently plaotDg a lighted candle near a wall, and the piper becoming ignited. The insurance on tho building was £4OO in the Alliance, and on the furniture £IOO in the North British.
