ANNUAL CAMP.

Tho Gisborne Rifles (under Capt. 80-ore) and cadets (under Oapt. Co-vaa) went into comp oa Saturday on the Victoria Domain. Sixteen bell cants arc pitched to aocomnjodata the men and lade at thu farther end of the ground, Two large marquees are also erected at each end of the tents, which arc iu two lines, ooa being used a rnssd toot for the men, while the other accommodates the officers. Captain Hi-lcp, adjutant of the battalion, arrived ia Gisborne on Saturday, accompanied by Staff Sngt.-Meja: J. Williams. Wuile here those officers wilt give instruction tu both corps in ail tho rudiments of camp aud fieldwork. Yestarday morning battalion drill took plaoe, 55 volunteers and 55 cadets taking part. Ia the afternoon a number of townspeople visited ihe Domain, the fair eex being much in evidence. Tub camp looked the picture cf neatness, everything denoting that those taking part were evincing a keeo interest iu their work and paying every attention to detail. L'.out. Coleman was the officer iu charge yesterday afternoon, and did Sho honors of the oarnp for many of tho visitors. Much interest is being taken in the concert to bo hold oa Tuesday next. Many leading vooaiists are billed so taka part, including Messrs A. Zacharish, H E. Hill, Dudley Trent, Stephens, and Miss Mumo. Music will bo provided by Mr A. J. Massey, Mr Gittos’ orchestra, and (ho City Band. The corps will givo a dieplay oi gun drill, and the evening’s entertainment will conclude with a night attack on a eleeping camp. Captain Hisiop expressed himself as highly satisfied with the work done and much pleased with the attendance, the number on pata'de (110) constituting a record for a volunteer camp in this district

for very many years, To-day’s work will oonsisi of attack practioe and extended order work. The officer of the day is Lieut. Coleman, Orderly-Sergeant, Sergeant Warner, and Corporal Breingan.
