BOAT FATALITY.

I TOWNSMAN DROWNED AT ROTORUA. I'KKSS ASSOCIATION Rotorua, lust night. •V sml boating fatality occurred at Lake Eotokakahi this morning at eleven o'clock. William Seeley and Alexander Smith went out in a small boat. They discovered that the boat was leaking very much. The boat was swamped Roth men clung to it for some time. Seeley left the boat, and struck out for the shore. Hu swam well for about a chain. Then ho suddenly disappeared. Smith stuck to the boat, and eventually reached shore, greatly ex hausted. Mrs Smith witnessed the sad occurrence from the shore, and was the only person present. The boat was only about 200 yards from the shore when it sank. Gloom has been east over the town by the occurrence. Mr Seeley was a highly respected townsman. lie took great interest in all sports, and was secretary for the football and howling clubs. He leaves a widow and child. j
