CONCERT AT MANGAPAPA

The concert held at above schoolroom *ast night in aid of the Mangapapa Church and Choir Fund proved a huge success, the seating accommodation being taxed to its utmost extent. The various items were well received by a most enthusiastic audience. The programme opened with an instrumental overture by Messrs Gittos, Lichtwark and Aston. Mr Brownlee followed with the song “ Sleeping Camp,” and gave for an encore, “ Down in the Deep.” Miss Bedstone rendered “ Link Divine,” and being encored gave “An Old World Serenade.” Miss Sievwright received an enthusiastic encore for her rendering of the humorous story of “ The Inventor’s Wife,” A duet followed by Mrs Gardiner and Mr J. Brownlee, “ Tell her I lover her so.” Mr I'. W. Griffiths’ full voice was heard to advantage in “ The Deathless Army ” and “My Life for Thee.” Mr 11, Hill received a double encore for his humorous item. On the second half of the programme, after another overture, Mr Hunter sang “ Plymouth Hoe,” and for an encore “ Kings of the Road.” Mrs Gardiner rendered “ For all Eternity,” and was followed by Mr Griffiths with “ The Storm Fiend.” Rev. H. N. Wright gave “The Beautifnl Land of Nod,” and for an encore “ The Sweetest Flower That Blows.” Mr Lichtwark then rendered a violin solo. Miss Siovwright in her enters taining way, gave another recitation, l’h o programme was brought to a close by a rendering of “ Oh! Hear the Wild Wind Blows” by Mr Reynolds, who boing enthusiastically encored sang “Mona.” Tno Rav. Dawson Ttiumas presided, and Mrs H. Brownlee and Mr J. H. Gittos aeled as accompanists.
