Ho had just completed negotiations for taking over a business hero. His absence from the shop causing some apprehension, a search was made, and he was found in a dying condition in an outhouso. He was removed to a private hospital, where ho died. The pre* sumed cause of death is heart failure. Dunedin, last night.
Mr William Pryor, who leaves tomorrow to take up the duties of organising secretary of the Employers’ Federation, was presented-with a silver tea and coffee service, together with a rug, in recognition of his services to education in Otago. The Hon. Mr Millar, owing to illhealth, finds it necessary to proceed to 'Wellington to-morrow.
There is fine weather for the show. Judging started promptly. The show of live stock is one of the best ever seen hero. In Shorthorns Arthur Chamberlain, Canterbury, won in the all ago bull class; Mitchell 8r03., North Otago, in all-age cows. In polled Angus, Murray, Bobeits and Co. had classes to themselves; the beasts wero quite up to the usual high standard. In Ayrshire?, Win Cowan, Oamaru, scored nine successive wins aud not a reverse, the only other wiener being Peter Ireland (Goodwood), who was unopposed in cow and two progeny. In the sheep classes there was no competition in Lincolns, the New Zealand Agricultural Land Co. scoring all the prizes. The only merino shown had no competition. In pigs, Brice, Canterbury, is having matters bis own way. An old man named Thomas Downie died in the hospital from injuries received on the Bth inst ant, being knocked down by a car in George street.
