FIRES.
i PRESS ASSOCIATION ’ Dunedin, Saturday. A four-roomed house at Musselburg was I completely destroyed by fire this morning, I It was owned by Matthew Mortimer, exstorekeeper of Hampden, and occupied by F. W. Mortimer, builder. The furniture was insured for £l5O, but nothing was saved. Mortimer lost £285 in cash, which he brought down from Oamaru last night, Auckland,* Saturday. The nightwatchman at Newmarket railway workshops last night discovered an I outbreak of fire in the Westinghouse brake j shop. The flames had spread to the paint I shop adjoining, the roof of which was ablaze, but the fire was tackled promptly and prevented from spreading. An American carriage was damaged to the extent of £3OO and the building was damaged to the value of A'lCCh It is supposed a spark I from a passing engine set fire to some inI flammable material on the roof. Auckland, last night. The bone and tallow woiki of J. Renshaw, Grey Lynn, were destroyed by fire lon Saturday. Toe insurance was : Building £ 150, stock £4OO, maohinery £3OO, all in thß South Britisb. Toe building waa owned by Mrs Faulder. Another fire took plaoe in Arch Hill on Saturday night, resulting in the total destruction of three houses, owned respeo* tively by Messrs Johnston, Moylan, anil Wheeler,' and the partial destruction of Mrs Swansea's resideaoe. All the properties were insured, but the amounts are not at present ascertainable-
