Berlin. Nov. 20.
Tho Munich Press publishes a remarkable conversation that the Kaiser held with Doctor Ganghofer Fergerman, the novelist. He avowed himself an ardent optimist, and intended to remain one. He was so confident of Germany’s future that he felt worried over tho prevalent dejection regarding tho Empire, Ho intended himself to work on without being disheartened. The Kaiser continued : “ I believe 1 am making actual progress. lam aware I am dubbed 1 Reiskaiscr ’ (meaning the ‘ the. Travelling Emperor’), but my serious calling renders frequent chaDge necessary, doubly so when compelled to fight so many misunderstandings. My position is a thankless one. If I succeed the world asks ‘ Who advised him to do that ? ’ If J fail people say I know nothing about it.” Ho concluded: “lam always seeking tho good of tho German Empire and nation."
