POVERTY BAY AB3OOIAZION,
A meeting of tho Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held last night at the 1 | Masonic Hotel. Present : Messrs W. Cedarweil (chairman), G. K, Paslsy, J. B. Gardiner, V 7. Gibson, J. Lang, and H. E, I i Hill (hon. secretary),
A lettor was read from Mr Rowley (non. secretary of tho Floral Fete Committee) asking the Association to allow his C:m mitiee the u e of the Viotoria Domain for the purpose of holding tho Fete next Saturday. The writer pointed out that his committee had gone to considerable expense in organising the Fete, and they wished, if possible, to hold it on S >tu;d >y next. He was aware that this would cause tho Association a great deal of in j omvemeuoe, but trusted they would g’ant the request.
Considerable dircaseion ensued, and an ] unseoonded motion was moved to the effect that the request be not granted, I It was finally decided, on the motion of Mr Hill, seconded by Mr Gardicor, “ That Mr Rawley’s request he acoedrd to for the Floral Fete, but that this privilege be not extended to other funotions.”
The general feeling of the meeting was that if a similar request was again presintod to the Association by the Fmral Feta Committee, or any other body, it wruld have to be refused, it being impossible for the Association to carry out their programme if BDy farther SAurday afternoons wore lost. , After the transaction of some minor business, the meeting adjourned,
