DEATHS IN COALMINE.
PRESS ASSOCIATION Dunedin, Thursday. An accident oecurrod at tho Kaitangata coaimino to-day by which William Lse, engineer, son of tho managing director, aged 24 years, and Frederick 0 ive Anderson, 46, -deputy manager, married, lost their lives. Work was goiog on in tbo main drive to block off a fire. Leo and. Anderson went down to Bee if they could locate the fire. They entered the'return eirway with search lights, and were overcome by black damp. The manager, on finding what they had done, at occe took steps !o search for them. Andetßon was found some 30ft away from the door, and a second party Lund Lse 200 ft away. Efforts were made to resuscitate them, but without avail. The miners worked heroically in gatting out lho bodies, and several wero overoome by black damp.
