PItKSS ASSOCIATION Auckland, last night. A fishing boat capsized in the Tamaki river last night. The boat was swept undor the bridgo, and the mast catching in tho archway over* turned her. An Italian fisherman, named Trabrook was thrown into the water and drowned.
Palmerston North, last night. An old ago pensioner namod William Tompkins was found dead by his wife at midday yesterday. Deceased, who was nearly 8(5, had boen in the colony G 4 years. Death was due to heart failure. An inquest is not considered necessary.
Nelson, last night, The body of the lad Moynifian, who was drowned in the boating fatality at Boulder Bank yesterday week, was found floating out of tho harbor by tho Harbor Board dredge. At tho inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned, with a ridor warning parents of the danger of letting young lads go in canvas dingies and canoes cn practically a sea shore unattended by their elders.
A long dry spell, which was causing fears as to shortage of water in the city, and anxiety among farmers, was broken up to day by heavy raiu, which is general in tho district. The rain ■will save tho situation here, as in Canterbury, coming in the nick of time.
The chief postmaster has received the following telegram from the coach which left Nelson for Blenheim this morning: “ Met with an accident at Collins’ river at 11.15 a.m. Passengers and driver are safe. Luggage and all saved except one hamper lost. Two horses were drowned. Passengers and driver at Wangamoa accommoda« tion house.”
