Antonios jj Booran ° The betting was 7 to 2 on Poseidon, 8 to 1 Booran, 10 to 1 lolaire, 12 to 1 Antonios. lolaire jumped away with the lead, but was soon beaten. At the river side Ellis led by four lengths from lolaire. Approaching the bridge Iliis led by two lengths from BooraD, Poseidon being next. At the far turn lolaire fell away. The favorite then moved up, and at the straight proper took the lead, and won by one and a-quatter lengths, there being four lengths between second and third. lolaire finished laet. Timp, 2.40 J. Melbourne Stakes —Solution 1, Blue Spec 2, Noreen 3. Five others started. The betting : 9 to 4 on Solution. The favorite was the first away. He cantered into the straight from Dividend, and increasing the lead as he liked, won by and a ha’f lengths, a length separating second and third. Time, 2 9J. Coburg Siakes —Benbow 1, The Cast-* eway 2, Tulkeroo 3. Castaway made the most of the running. Bsnbow raoed up the straight with Castaway, and beat him by three-quarters of a length, there being three lengths between seoond and thircu Time, 1.42 J.
