BOROUGH ELECTIONS.
VICTORY OF MODERATES IN ENGLAND, t— i iutra PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. London, Nov 2, In the Borough elections the Moderates obtained many sweeping victories in London. The Progressives have been eliminated at Fulham, Wandsworth, and Lewisham. Their ranks have been reduced in other boroughs, and also in the provinces < • Received 4.45 p.m., Oct 4. In the municipal elections at Camberwell, Hampstead, Shoreditch, Deptford, Kensington, and Westminster the Moderates won heavily. Labor lost thirteen seat at Woolwich, The Conservatives and Unionists won many seats in the provincial boroughs. The London County Council o per centum Water Board shares rose considerably. The result of the London elections give— Moderates ... 974 Progressives ... ... 257 Independents 97 Labor 82 Socialists ••• 2 The elected Moderates hold a majority in 23 councils, and the Progressives in 3. The Daily Chronicle says that the result was duo to a fear of Socialism; secondly to increased rates, and the Poplar Borough Council’s extravagance.
