MANAWATU SHOW.

PEI!S3 ASSOCIATION Palmerston North, yesterday. Despite last night’s rain beautiful weather prevails for the second day of the Manawatu Show, Among the visitors is the Minister for Lands. There is a large crowd in attendance from all parts of the coast and district. In the judging to-day the cattle classes suffered by the absence of Hawke’s Bay shorthorns, which have been sent to Christchurch. ’The sheep made a good display, and the horses were a great exhibition as usual. The dogs were better than ever, The cattle championships in shorthorns were won by Dalziell Bros.’ hull and D. Fleming’s cow ; in Herefords Mr .1. Stuckey’s hull and Dr P. Buchanan’s cow; in Ayrshire's, Slack Bros.’ hull, and S, Staudeu's cow; in Holstein Fresians, by McKenzie and Lovelock’s hull, and -Mrs McDonald and son’s cow, Mr J, G. Duncan’s stallion, Conqueror, and Mr G, F. Moores iihy, Oriana, won ‘die thoroughbred horse championship. Later. G. L Sutherland's Juggler won the prize for champion hack in show. G. F, Moore's Boneor was best in the draught stallions, and F, Bremer’s Glennie best mare; champion draught gelding, G, A. Ganiman and Co. The sheep championships were; Lincolns, ram W. H. VV vbourn, ewe T. Tanner; ilomney Marsh, ram G. Wheeler, ewe E. Short ; English Leicester, ram Slack Bros., ewe A B, Lancaster; Border .Leicester, vam lion. J. D. Ormond, ewe Hon. J. Lh c/rmoiid ;

ehropshiredown, ram J. B. Corrigan, ewe J, It. Corrigan; ou'lidown J. .-tucivey, ewe w. E. Baker. Dogs made a remarkable sliow under the control of the Manawatu Kennel Club, Mr .1. 0. Coupe, of Melbourne, acting as judge. The entries were very large, and came from all parts of the colonv. The best fox terrier puppy in the show was T- Hide’s. Dunedin, which was awarded a special gold medal. McNivon’s Pickpocket won the steeplechase in great style.
