A NATIONAL MISSION PROPOSEI PRESS ASSOCIATION Auckland, last night. At the Anglioan Synod last night Canon Mao Murray moved : “ That this Synod approves of tbs proposal of e national mission being held in New Zsaland on the lines of the South African mission of 1904, and respeolfully requests the President to oommunioate this resolu* tion to the General Synod.' 1 If they looked at the growth of Auckland, they could not help reoogoisiog the fact that there was not to-day as large a percentage of the population of Auokland to be found in the ohurohes on Sunday as was lo be found years ego. The position was lo a greater or less extent the same throughout the oolony. He believed that there was real danger of a very considerable proportion of the population of Now Zealand lapsing into—well, if not into heathenism —very great indifference with regard to Christian ordinances, and the Christian religioD. There was need for some special effort to be mado to assist the national conscience. The influence of the mission in South Africa could hardly be overestimated, for it had done very real and abiding work throughout the country. He hoped, however, that nnlike the South Afrioan mission the New Zralaud Obuicb would not ask forfioauoial assistanoe from Home, but only ask the Church at Home to send out the very best meD. Archdeacon Willis seconded the motion, UDd Bald they wanted a revival in this ooloDy. The Bishop expressed bis hearty concurrence with the motion, Ho hoped the General Synod would endorse the proposals, The Rsv, W.
