Lord Goschen deprecated placing 100 much power in the hands of V. o civil authorities He urged tboy hud better rely more on school authorities, who were in eloier touch with parents. The Arobbishop cf Canterbury stated that he wished school children were Christiauly brought up. Ho deprecated wreoking by oineudmeot, There was a graro dauger of tho schools bring under buceauoratio ooutrol. Regarding olauso 4, giving extended facilities for speoial religious insttuction, tho propoeod conditions wore so complicated that it was impossible to comply with their teaching. Elementary religion ought to Le available', given by qualified teachers. Religious teaching ought to be available for children whose psrenls desired it.
