At the back of tho bird cage was the fioe now stewards’ buiiding and stand. This buiiding included pekeys’ rooms, weigbiDg room, secretary's office on tho ground fijor, while tbo upstairs portion was tskon up with stewards’ room, haedioapper's room, and press room, a balony extending along tbe full leDgtb. Large alterations had been made to the stand, which had been enlarged to twice its former capaoity. The luncheon rooms and tho ladies’ rooms had also been considerably enlarged. A doctor's and ami bulance room was included in the oategary of improvements, the only familiar or connecting feature with tho past being tbe judge’s bos. The to'.alisator stand j had been enlarged to maks room for the | silent totaiisator, and a fine new septic , tank had also been installed, An eleotrio ’ wire connected the secretary’s room with the saddling paddook, tho secretary only having to touch a button to warn jockeys an 1 trainers to bo in readiness for eaoh rase. Great interest was taken io the fioe improvements, aDd the officers of the clcb had a pleasant task in showing visitors tho up-to-date arrangements that had been made. Too club were highly congratulated on tho advance made, and all were delighted with tho impr rvements, though some professed to miss the merry tickle of tbe toto bell which had beoo done away with by the stealthy rapid work of tho silent machine. The secretary, Me D. R DeCcsta, was highly complimented all round on the excellent m inner in which ha fulfilled his duties. Although he has held the post of secretary for some time, he had to be tested during tho rush of a race meeting. Toot he acquitted himself in a very creditable manner was acknowledged by a'l, end the club is to be congratulated on having the secretarial office so capably filled. An ox-sscrarary, Mr E. L. Maude, gave valuable assistance during the dry. The appointments throughout wore exe'dient-.
