u Another bumper house greeted the o second performance of “ The Gondo’t liers ” last night, and public appreciation of the efforts of the performers ® was just as strongly marked as on the r previous night. There was more e reason for it, too; because the sups pressed excitement and “ stago fright” e that is never absent from a first per- - formance by amateurs was entirely absent on this occasion, and uvery- » thing went with a vim. Encores were • again insisted upon, and in some ? instances items had to be repeated two or three times, for it seemed as if the | audience could not have enough of i tho fascinating melody of tho piece, i This was a graceful tribute to the i author, the late Sir Arthur Sullivan, as well as to the performers, who should be well satisfied with the reception accorded to them. Good as the first effort was on tbe opening night, last night’s production was even better’ so that nothing more need be said in praise of ii, aud although the promo- ' ter’s voice was once hoard in the circle I there was no flagging in any portion of the production. Iho beautiful scenery, limelight displays, and mechanical effects were again much admired.
