LOCAL WOOL SALES,
The quarterly salo of tho Gisborne Woolbrokers’ Association was held yesterday afternoon, there being a good attendance of Auckland and local buyers and also a Wellington buyer i.t the Male. Competition was good, but prices all round foil I'.vcm IA.I to Jy 1 below the rates obtained at last sales. The offering of fleece wool was small, but skins were largely catalogued. The various firms report :
Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. : Our offerings of wool wero chiefly odd lots. Fleece wool realised from 8d to 8 yd, dead wool B}l, and rough cruteliinge o.Vd Sheepskins showed, a drop of about 2d compared with the last sale, in June. Then they brought from 9d to lOd for best lots of station skins. To-day the prices were from 7.1 d to 7x'l, inferior Bkins from 5.H to Old. Messrs Dennett and Slierralt: A varied catalogue was offered. One bale of mixed fleece brought 3d, a number of lots of fudges 7.19, pa: off of dead wool 7y J, 17 bags of fleece 7ld. There was a large selection of skins, crossbreds rcnlbing to 7J-d and hoggets 7d to 7.11. Pelts sold at Is 3d, green skin 3 5?, whilo hides made -igd per lb. Some small parcels of tallow brought up to 20s.
Messrs Williams and Kettle : One bale of dead word fetched SMI, but for several bales of fleece wool offered Sd was tho best price obtained. Dead brought 7Ad, a parcel of lambs’ wool Old, erutchinga sd. A large catalogue of skies was offered, selling up 7i'J. Green skins made from 43 Gl to 7s 2d. Tallow sold at 19s 3d. For a large assortment of hides offered, prices ranged from 4]d to syd per lb. Messrs Dalgcty and Co. : Our entry comprised J 500 skins and 93 hides, and a few oddments of wool Fleece wool made up to S.Jd, dead wool to 7ld, mulchings oy'd to 7 yd, leeks fc-Jd to 4d. Good full wooiled tkins made 7.1 tl to SI, light 7.1 d, inferior syi to 7d. Green skii s ao.'d from os 9d to 7s 10J, and 19s for extra heavy'. Good hides ir-ado from l.j'd to OAd, the top price for the sale. Tallow sold at 20s to 23s Od a cwt.
