Poseidon’s victory in the Eclipse Stakes finned him in tho betting in the Caulfield Cup. He is now a better favourite than Solution, who did not start in the Eclipse Stakes. The winner pulled up well. lolaire has also firmed.
Hunters Cup—Whakataki 1, The Dancer 2, Strathloddon 3. Won easily. Coongy Handicap—Demas 1, Mira 2, Bongrafton 3. Fifeness was first away and led from Katoomba, Charmont, Mira, ana Demas. At the mile post Demas was second to Fifeness, but at the back Demas dropped to fifth, Mira ruuning second. Dyed Garments led to the home turn from Mira, Demas, and Bongrafton, Demas then challenged. Won easily by four lengths. Bongrafton being three lengths away, Katoomba finished last; Time 2 22.4.
Moonga Handicap—F.A. 1, Decollette 2, Fenillon 3. Won by half a head. Ttme 14*. The introduction of the victory of Demas has considerably brightened the Caulfield Cup prospects.

PRESS ASSOCIATION Wellington, last night. The Wellington Rasing Club’s spring meiting opened to-day in ideal weather. Tbe sum of £11,553 was put through the totslisator, as against £9992 for the corresponding day of last year. On the double machiDe the winning combination, Clanebattan and Golden Gate, paid oat £55 13s on each pound inves ed Hack Hurdles—Pawa 1, Sardonyx 2, Cyrus 3. Rookby and Hydrosoope were the other starters. Hydrosoope fell at the back of th 9 oourse. Won easily by three lengths, six lengths separating second and third. Div., £5 Bs.
Shorts Handioap—Medallist 1, Deoiination 2, Ballarat 3. Captain Shannon, Marguerite, Petticoat, and St. Bill also started. Won by a length. Diva., £5 18b and £l.
Rimutaka Hack—lntelligence 1, Rosegtoye 2, William 3. Scratched: Armas ■mento, Kuku, Lady Boresford, Highland Fling, Won oomfortably by nearly two lengths, three lengths separating second anebthird. Div. £3 and £3 3s,
Wellington Handioap—Oiauohattan 1, Zimmerman 2, Ghoorka 3 Ghoorka was first away, followed by Boomsrang and Bourrasquo. At tbe four furlong post Gboorka lost his position, Boomeraog runs ning into premier position, Oa entering the straight tbe field olosad up, tbe colors of Mystification and Frisoa bsing prominent. Zimmerman appeared to have the raoe in hand when Olanohastan earns with a ratt’e and beat the oolt by half a length. Gboorka finished strongly, and was plaosd third, Mystification and Frisoo coming next in that order. La Torpedo was last. Div, £8 2« and £1 li.

Gjldsn Gate lad practically from the etart, aad was never seriously troubled, winning by a lengtn, DaWitte jw beating Contender for second place, Die., £3 9a.
