A HINT TO GISBORNE.

(Special to Times.) Napier, last night. Great interest is being taken iu cricket in Hawke’s Bay this season. A large number of now players have como to tho district, and the season promises to bo unusually successful. Stimulus will also be given to the game by reason of tho match arranged against the Englishmen in February, exceptionally favorable terms for which have been secured. In view of this it is hoped a Poverty Bay and Hawke’s Bay match will be arranged during the Christmas holidays, so as to serve as a gauge as to whether any Poverty Bay men are of sufficient calibre for inclusion in the Hawke’s Bay team. Tho championship matches will start hers on the 27th.
