WHARF ACCOMMODATION
!To the Editor of the Times.)
Sir, —I cannot help thinking our Harbor hard want waking up a little bit to see he need for promptly providing for the rapidly increasing trade of the port- The whole of the available wharf accommodation is practically constantly in use at present, and in a couple of months berths will be required for lighters loading wool and for our coal fleet the Ururoa, lima' Frank Guy, and Ha/.el Craig, besides the now regular traders, Squall, Storm, Toroa, Fanny, and other small fleet. It is time' the Hoard got a move on to provide berthage for those in order that vessels shall not bo detained. I quite admit there is a portion of the wharf near the bridge very I little used, but there is no water for vessels J to lay there, except when they are empty and the berthage in this port is worse than
it was two years ago. Surely it is time the Board got out of its groove and did something practical and beneficial besides Haunting before the public the possibility of an outside deep water harbor, which, if adopted, will take years to provide, What is wanted is to make the inner harbor available right up to the bridge for vessels I drawing ton foot loaded.—l am, etc., Merchant, *
