Contingenters’ Re-union.

A smoke ocnoert was bold last night at Whinray’s Hall, which was attended by all the returned contingenters to the number of 67 men and five overs, also several visitors, inoluding the Hon. J. Carroll, Mr W. Lissant ClaytoD, Mr W. T. Wood (M.H.R., Palmerston), Major MoCredie, and Captain Brown. The Hon. J, Carroll ocoupied the ohair

for a time, and addressed those present. Having to attend the funotion at His Majesty’s Theatre he had to leave early. Mr W. Lissant Clayton also addressed the men.

It was decided to form an association amongst those present, and the whole of the names were handed in as members, Captain Brown made a rousing speeoh to the men on the benefits of suoh an association. The following officers and oommittee were elected President, Col. Porter ; vice-presidents, 1 Col. Winter, Major MoCredie, and Capi. Ferris ; secretary, Lieut. Oarter ; treasurer, Sergt. Morris ; oommittee, Captains Brown and , Neale, Lieutenants Langford, Emerson, and Oarter, Troopers Pufiett and Poyntor, During the evening songs were rendered by vaiijus singers, end altogether the men spent a light royal evening. The catering was in the hands of Mr A, P. Hailey, and gave entire satisfaction.
