ANONYMOUS LETTERS. '(Special to Gisborne Times.) Wellington, Saturday.
The subject of anonymous letters cropped up in , the House, and the Premier took occasion to express his opinion of tho writers of such communications in vigorous terms “ If,” hesaid, “ there are cowards inthe world they are those who send anonymous letters. Iu my opinion they are worse than assasins. I have seen scores of them in. my time, and I have the greatest abhorrence of the villains and reptiles who endeavor to shield th mselves in writing anonymous letters to public men about someone else. I have had sto es of these letters reflecting on officers in different parts of tho colony sent to mo by persons who, 0.3 I say, are iu my opinion worse than assassins. Tho writing of these letters is about as vile a thing as any man can do.” The Premier spoko with considerable feeling, and his remarks were greeted with general expressions of approval from members.
