OBITUARY.
SUDDEN DEATH OF MR. T. ROSE PRESS ASSOCIATION Wellington, Saturday. A sad and sudden death occurred this afternoon. Mr T. Rose, assistant Secretary and Inspector of tho Post and Telegraph Department, was engaged in a bowling match against the team of New Zealand bowlers who leave for Sydney to-night, when he suddenly collapsed, and expired in a few minutes Death was believed to be duo to heart disease. Deceased, who was in his oStli year, has been an officer in the Department for nearly 83 years, and was highly respected throughout the colony.

SENSATION CAUSED BY MR ROSE’S DEATH. t—l PRESS ASSOCIATION Wellington, last night. Mr Rose’s death created a great sensation on the howling green. He had been ohosen to skip the rink from Thorndon Club against the Christchurch rink skipped by Mr S Manning, The skips had gone down to the northern end of the rmk to play the final bowls of the head. Rose played his first of two bowls and sat down on the bank to wa ! oh hia opponent's p'ay. Suddenly he started forward, and than fell qai-.tly beck on to the asphalt path, Tae surrounding players rushed to hia assistants, and a couple of medical m?n who were present tried to induce artificial respiration, but without effect. Droeased never spoke after the seizure. Ho died of heart failure, and a certificate to that effect was giveD. Mr Rose was 59 years of age. Ha had been Chief Inspector in the Postal Department since 1873.
