PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received 12.45 a.m., Oct. 5. London, Oct. 4,

Mr Evans has been appointed recorder at Swansea. The miners will not oonteet Evans' re-election. On the other hand the Amalgamated Railway Men’s Conference decided, by 31 to 17, to recommend to the Labor Representation Committee Mr Holmes, organising seoretary for the South Wales railway men, as a suitable candidate for Mid Glamorgan. The vote is doubly significant, as Mr Holmes was prominent in the Taff Vale oass, and he is appealing to a constituency on the epot. In the eeoond place his relations with Mr 801 l are not cordial, and his (election is .nterprsted as another anti-Ball move.
