P.B. ROWING CLUB.

The 23rd annual meeting of the Poverty

Bay Bowing Club was held in the Albion Hotel last oveniog. There was e large attendance of members, Mr J. Webb presiding. The report showed tho olub to be in a

strong position. They had an asset of £l7O io boats and oars and £75 in the shed. The receipts for the year were £6B 83 lid, and the expenditure £7B 19s 6d, there being a balanoe of assets over Habibties of £163 5s 4J. There '“as a bank overdraft of £59 2s 4d, but considering that a big effort bad been made to reduoe the debt on the boats, this was considered satisfactory. The thanks of the olub were due to the Lioensed Viotuallers’ Assooia tion for a shield for competition between tho two olubs, to the Hon. J. Carroll, Messrs F, Harris, and W. MoGuffie for medals, Mr B. S. Cox for photographs, and Dr 0. F. Scott, and Mr 0. A. DeLautour for donations. Daring the season

medals were won by the following orews : —Tr'al fours, MoGuffie, Shean, Young, and Pritohard ; SbecD, Young, Lvford, and Somervell; Webb, Stewart, Douglas, and Ledgor; double sculls, MoGuffie and Thaxter; single sculls, B Jones. In the annual races with the Gisborne shed the shed won all three events. The crows were as

follows. Seniors, J. Webb, B. Jones-J. Sheen, McLeod ; 10 stone, H Warren, J. Stewart, Hackctt, McConnell; juniors, McGuffic, Pool, Young, Somervell Tho annual picnic and social wore held on New Years’ Day and proved very successful. A social was also held in Whinray’s Hall on Easter Monday. The election of officers resulted:

Amateur Bowing Association, Dr. Pollen, delegates to the Hawke’s Bay Bowing Association Messrs A. Ilillson and J. Fortune ; vicepresident 11.8. Bowing Association Mr A E. Benouf; auditors Messrs B. Jones and W. McGuffic A committee consisting of the secretary, captain and deputy captain was appointed to wait on the Gisborne shed delegates in connection with the opening of the season.
