Under weather conditions that would have dismayed most organisers, the comcl mentary concert to Hu Lordship Bishop Lanihan was successfully given at His Majesty's Theatre last night, The ami* euce uudor arch ciroumstaoces was of course not large, but it was very onthush astio, as well it might have been with such no exce'lent programme. All whese nameß appeared on the list loyally res sponded, and in each case there was a •hearty reoall. The croheetia statically played several selections, includmg " A Russian Feta " nnd " The Goblin Mam’ I The pianist for the orchestra was Mr H. Oram, Messrs Parnell B.others 14) and Others having the stringed instruments, and Mr ShaGmd lha flute. The licet vocalist was Mr Dudley T.ont, who gavo three songs altogether — 1 Kings of too R ad,” "Till Dsatb,” and " Margery with a Hue number of enc>res, including " Golden S lenco,” all the numbers being warmly appreciated, Miss Madonna Kni"ht was the iirst of the lady singers, and°sang “ Kathleen Mavourncen ” in a way that gave additional pleasure to that old favourite. Response was made to an enthusiastic encore, and later on Miss Knh'ht took part in a duel with Mr i . Barry, which was also heartily encored. Mrs Collins scored a triumph with her song, being only on the programme for | one, but having to respond to a most enthusiastic recall. Her iirst number was i.i Once, ” which she sang with splendid effect, and responding with the charming eon" 11 Good-night, Little Love,” for which there was very hearty applause. The j humorous side of the programme was well maintained by Mr H Do Costa, who sang “ I Wouldn’t Leave my Litt.e Wooden Hut for You,” and responding j 1 1. With the Story of a Kiss,” evoking
much laughter and applause. “Hie I Swallows” was the title o£ Mis I. Barry’s first solo, and she succeeded as usual in delighting the audience, for an cncoro giving what was if not a difficult song,
