PRKS3*ASSOOIATION Hastings, last night. At a well-attended meeting of the Hastinns Formers’ Union the following resolution was passed : " That this branch having oansidored tbe Land Act Amendment Bil 1 . i 3 of opinion that no form ot fcenuio will give satisfaction to tho farming community unices it iccludis tbo option to acquire tbo freehold. Tho moorae annually derived from this sourea would enab o tbe Govemmont to purchase suitable lands for settlement and obviate further borrowing. In -rgird to tbe limitation clause, tho branob considers it is drostic and uufair to owners, and of no uso to those disirous of taking up land. It tho objeoi of toe Bui in the reduction of large estates, a muoa bettor remedy is already provided for in the Land for Settlement and Graduated Land Tax Acts. Tho branch therefore duapproves of the Land Bill, and oonsiders it should be submitted to the people before beoomit-g law.”
