I’KIiSS ASSOCIATION Anckhiud, la>t night A cottage belonging to Llic New Zealand Daisy Association, situated at To A\va« mutu, was destroyed by lire last night. It was occupied by 11. 11. Unit, creamery manager, a married mail with a family. Dour children were burned to death. Ihe others had a narrow escape. The lire occurred about 10.15 last night, tho victims being four children of Mr IT. Hutt, a boy, Charles, aged lit, Hector, aged 0, Ethel, aged 5, and William, 2 years. The family had retired early, and about an hour‘later the eldest daughter gave an alarm of fire, which by this time had a strong hold on the old wooden building. Hutt and his wife escaped with the baby, and four children followed. By this time a number of people had arrived on the scone. Every cilort was made to rescue the remaining four children, but the llames and smoke being so strong, all attempts to rescue them were useless. About midnight tho charred remains of the four children were discovered. There were nine children in the family, and all the boys were lost. Nothing in the way of property was saved from tho cottage.
