Marohant, consulting eDgi neer to the New Plymouth Harbor Board, has been invited to pay a visit of inspection next month. He is to arrive at Gisborne on Saturday next. His Lorship Bishop Lenihan is at present paying an episoopal visitation to Gisborne. He opens a ohurob at Te Karska on Sunday, and on Monday night will be tendered a complimentary concert at Gisborne.

At tho Polios Court yesterday Daniel South plcadod not guilty to a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond within tho moaning of the Fo ice Ollonders Aot, 1884. Oonetablo Irwin stated that acousod was oonyiotod of vagraooy at Napier and sentenced to 14 days’ hard labor. Constable Wales said he had seen aooused about town for tho last ten days. Ao oused bad no money when arrested. Ho did no work, and as far as witness knew made no attempt to get work. Detective Maddern stated that be knew aocused for oight years. Ho oamo to Gisborne on tho 17th inst. Ho was a momber of the criminal olass. Accused’s record showing 34 cooviotions was put in; After hearing accused's ovidenoo tho presiding Justices, Captain Tucker and Mr W. L Clayton, oonvioted accused, imposing a penalty of six months’ imprisonment in Napier gaol.
