THE SEDDON MAUSOLEUM

A NEW TOMB. Special to llic Times. Wellington, last night. To night’s Post says The tent that so long sheltered the gravo of Mr Siddon on tho orown of the observatory hill has been replaced by a galvanised iron stiuoture, Of all the wreath of flowers that were massed in the pailiamentary lobby whero the late Premier lay io state somo immortelles remain, but these everlastiDg blossoms aro not alone. Arum lillie-, narcissi, and otbor fresh blooms show that there have been recent visitors. Just by the mound of flowers men aro excavating preparing a plaos for a new maueoloum, whioh is to bo 22ft 6iu square with on' ternal walls of brick, lined with oonoreto in layers 3ft to sft thick. The depth fretn tho surfaeo of tho ground to tho floor will bo 9ft, and the tomb will bo arohed up to a height of 3£ft above tho outside level. Tbe steps loading up to tho mausoleum will command the oity. Tho new vault will take in the one iu whioh Mr Srddon’s remains now ropose, but it will not be neoessary to disturb tho casket. The plana make provision for four reoessos. There is eome oonjeoiure about thn form and dimensions of the monument whioh is sure to rise about tho mausoleum, but nothing yet appears to have been settlod. It is probable that this project will rest with the general publio rather than with the Go vemment.
