PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT London, Sept. 19. Reuter’s Manila correspondent states that it is reported that a thousand lives have been lost at Hong Eong. A British destroyer at Taku and two British river boats have been damaged. At Hong Kong twelve ships were sunk and twenty-four are ashore. Beven were damaged, including the Polynesian, Strathmore, and Radnorshire. Half the native oraft were Bunk. The Admiralty states that the Algerine, not the Phoenix, was damaged.

He expresses sympathy with the immedate sufferers and the whole of Hong Kong oommunity.
