HON. 0. MILLS APPOINTED A MEMBER. Special to the Times.

Wellington, last night. With the death of Mr Seddon a vaoanoy occurred on the Assets Realisation Board. It was filled temporarily by the Hon. Mr Hall-Jones, who, I understand, did not draw a salary. Since then the appointment has been conferred upon the Hon. Mr Mills, ex Minister for Customs. Some time ago I advised you that the ABsets Board was nearing the end of its existence. It ceases its operations automatically when the valuation by the Valuer-General shows that its assets equal its liabilities! aDd tho Government approve of the valuation, la the ordinary course of events the Assets Realisation Board will be a thing of the past within the next month or two. The new Land Act if passed may, however, to some extent, affect the valuation! as it will limit the number of purchasers for the lands now held by the Board,
