Stratford, last night. The representative football match, Wanganui v. Taranaki, was played to-day in splendid weather, and on a dry ground, In the first spell play was even, Wanganui showing a better game. The latter were awarded two penalty links, which Ora'g scored from. Shortly after the commencement of the seoond spell, Wenganui obtained a try, tbe score standing 9 points to nil, Taranaki livened up, and opened their score with a goal from a penalty. Brilliant play followed, the visitors being run over, Ward soorod a try, which was converted by Hargreaves. O'Sullivan then got a try, and soon afterward again scored, the latter also being converted by Hargreavos, Oameron brilliantly scored one at the oorner, and Ward obtained his third try. Crowley just on “ no-side ” obtained another try, und the game ended Taraneki 25, Wanganui 9. Tue visitors showed fine combination in the first spell, but fell to pieoes in the latter part of the game.
