PRESS ASSOCIATION Masterton, last night. Cm lir'i n; iv 1 1 yesterday of the well known Wairarapa settler, Mr G. M. Drummond, brother of Mr John Drummond, stock inspector, Wellington, last night.

Walter Spearman, 19 years of age, who was injured by a collision with a tramway pole, died in the hospital. 'Auckland, last night.

Thames, last night. Wm. Young, employed on a farm at Omahu, near Thames, was found dead in bed this morning. He retired last night, apparently in his usual state of health. As he had not been

ill the coroner ordered a post mortem. Deceased was a middle-aged man, and it is believed came from Otago. New Plymouth, last night.

The Police report that a Maori woman named Warea and her son, aged nine, were drowned in the Tongaporutu river on Saturday, through a canoe capsizing. The bodies have not been recovered.

Oamaru, last night. William Isaac Hoberfield died in Oamaru hospital yesterday. Deceased was in his 92nd year. He arrived in Otago in 1836, and for a number of years was engaged in whaling on the East Coast of the South Island. In 18-12 he made his home at Moeraki, wAere he has since resided on freehold property. Boberfield’s seafaring life was full of adventure.
