A small dinner-party at Government House last Thursday was followed by a dance, also small, early, and for younger folk. This is the first of the Cinderella dances Lady Plunket generally gives dur-

ing the season. The table dinner was decorated with wattle and lit with many candlesin the massivesilvcr-giltcandclabra that forms part of the presentation to Lord Dufi'criu when British Ambassador in Paris. Kathleen Plunket was in apricot chiffon, much gathered and frilled, trimmed with garlands of tiny roses in delicately tinted chiffon, Mrs T. C.
