PRESS ASSOCIATION Wellington, yrstorday. Tho members of the Acclimatisation Couforonco interviewed tho Colonial Secretary, tho Hon. A. Pitt, this afternoon, to bring under his notice tho resolutions recently adopted by tho delegates to tho Now Zealand Accli mitigation Societies’ Association, advocating amendments of the Animals Protection Act, and additional regulations under tho Fisheries Conservation Act In reply tho Minister said that he could sco nothing unreasonable in tho suggested amendments Ho would have great pleasure in submitting them to Cabinet with a view to having them passed into law during tho present session. With regard to two of tho resolutions there might bo a little difficulty. It had boon urged that Durville Island should be reserved as a sanctuary lor native game. He himself had made recommendations in the matter, and would again endeavor to meet the wishes of societies. The other question lay in the suggested regulations about netting at the mouths of rivers in estuaries in Lalco Ellesmere There ought to be a way of getting over the difficulty without injuring men who were earning their living by or at any rate the circumstances could bo improved. He would make representations to eusurethat thelaw would be rigorously enforced. l'u the Inter • country Shooting Match between teams, representatives of tho post and telegraph offices in London, Melbourne, Sydnoy and Weilington resp ctively, tho victory went to Melbourne.
