Mr Hornsby: Is the bon. member in order in saying that the galleries wore designedly cleared, so that I might speak filth? I call upon the hoD. member to withdraw and apologise. Toe Speaker : I don't think the expression was used in the manner in which the hon. member rrga ds it. Mr Hornsby : 11 To speak filth ” ? The Speakor: Those words must be withdrawn.
Mr McLichlan : I withdraw them. Toe Speaker: You must a'so express joor regret at having used them. Mr MrLaohlan : I express my regret at having expressed " filth.” The member frr Ashburton bore lost his notes. Resuming after an interval ho said ; “ I think the hon. member is the l.sitopose in a moralist. Hn may talk about immoral literature. The Speaker : You must withdraw that expression. Mr McLichlan : Tuen I say that ho is not a gentleman at lnrga. The Speaker: The hon. member is transgressing more than before. I must ask him to riee and withdraw.
