A married man, Robert Muehamp, aged 61, suicided by blowing his brains out in a bedroom at his home at Wnitara, shortly after 5 o'clock to night, while tho family were having tea. No cause is assigned for tho rash act.
Robert McLean alias Harry Skeen, at Waitara, was remanded to New Plymouth on a charge of attempted rape of the wile of a settler, who ran liis quarry down ; a struggle ensuing, in which McLean was severely knocked about.
