At a meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery Mr Nisbet moved that it is desirable a scheme providing for limited tenure of omoe and compulsory retirement for all elders of the Church, ruling and teaching alike, be introduced, but whereas in oases of teaching, elders’ oompulsory retirement at a specified age would lead to great | hardship unless oarefully safeguarded, the establishment of au adequate superannuation fund must be regarded as an essential part of such soheme. The Presbytery therefore suggests that the Assembly set U P a oommittee to consider the whole matter, and work out praotioal details. By 19 to 3 an amendment was oarried remitting the whole matter to a oommittee to oonsidsr and report (0 a speoial meeting of the Presbytery.
