FIRES.

I'KESS ASSOCIATION Ashburton, Saturday. Last night a four roomed house and contents at Hampstead, occupied by William Cooper, was totally destroyed by fire Mrs Cooper, while going to bed, was carrying a kerosene lamp, and tripped on a stop. Tho lamp exploded and sot lire to tho curtains. The whole place was soon in a blaze. The baby was rescued by Mrs Cooper just in time. Nothing was saved. The house was insured for £IOO in tho North British ; furniture for £SO in the Norwich Union Cambridge, Saturday. A fire this morning dostroyed Manson’s bakery, and damaged his shop and stock. The insurances were £3OO in the Now Zealand Office.
